JACKSON DONAL PAT JACKSON Colonel, USAF (Ret.) Colonel Donal Pat Jackson, USAF (Ret.), beloved husband, father, grandfather and gentleman, died on December 26, 2013 in Arlington, Virginia, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 87 years old. Col. Jackson was born into a ranching family in Wynona, OK, on November 6, 1926. He learned to ride and rope as a boy growing up in nearby Pawhuska. When the family moved to Lometa, Texas in 1944, he continued to develop his skills as a cattleman, following in the footsteps of his grandfather-a Texas Ranger-and father, killed in a ranching accident when Col. Jackson was 6 years old. In late 1944, Col. Jackson enlisted in the Coast Guard at age 17. He was stationed at Goose Bay, Canada, before returning to Texas, where he attended Texas Tech University on the GI Bill. After graduating in 1947, he began a career in the Air Force, where he served for 32 years, developing logistics for the overseas movement of supplies, fuel, and equipment. He became Chief of USAF Supply Support and Services Division at the Pentagon, reorganizing and instituting a corporate structure for the Air Force and Department of Defense commissary systems. After retiring from the USAF in 1977, Col. Jackson established Senterfitt Farms, a cattle farm in Madison, VA named for his great-grandfather, Reuben S. Senterfitt, and presently operated by his grandson. Since its inception in 1978, "The Farm" has grown into a large-scale agricultural operation and is the hub of family activity, from Fourth of July celebrations to Thanksgiving banquets. Tucked among the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the farm is where Col. Jackson guided another generation-his 12 grandchildren-to be skilled riders, workers, and honest, productive members of society. Col. Jackson was preceded in death by his two brothers, Bob (1942) and Dick (1971), his father Robert Wonn (1932), and his mother Lannie Mae (1986). He is survived by Norma L. Jackson, the love of his life for 65 years; his five children, R. Scott Jackson, Kathryn Jackson, Jennifer Jackson, R. Kirk Jackson, Lisa Jackson and their spouses, all of the metropolitan Washington area; and 12 grandchildren: Whitney, Clay, Beau, Tom, Shy, Jackson, Grace, Peter, Ariana, Andrew, Olivia, and Clara. Col. Jackson will be buried at Senterfitt Farms. Interment will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013. The family thanks The Care Managers at Sunrise at Bluemont Park for their deep compassion and excellent care. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Col. Jackson's memory to Capital Caring Hospice, 2900 Telestar Ct., Falls Church, VA 22042.
