DONALD DROWN  
1924 - 2013  

Don Drown passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at his summer home in Center Conway, New Hampshire. He was fighting Leukemia and kidney failure.
 
Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years Joan "Lucky" Wareham Drown, sister Dorothy, three sons, Dennis, Darrel, and David daughters-in-law Dori and Debbie, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
 
Donald served in World War II with the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in India. He graduated from Wagner College in 1950 where he lettered in basketball, tennis and football and was selected as the team's most valuable player of 1949. He received his Masters Degree from New York University. He later settled in Wheaton, Maryland to raise his family. He was a physical education teacher at the middle school, high school and college levels. He coached many team sports, but it was as a basketball coach that he was best known. He was the head coach of Montgomery College's Basketball team in Rockville, Maryland for over 30 years. He is a member of the Wagner College and Montgomery College athletic Hall of Fame.
Don was an avid tennis player, badminton player, fisherman and swimmer. Through these activities he developed several lasting friendships. He will be deeply missed.
 
Interment services will be private. A memorial service will be held later in the fall, details of the service will be shared when they are completed.
