DORIS JEANE STEVENS BOTSFORD
Doris Jeane Stevens Botsford, age 84, died February 23, 2014 at the Washington D.C. Home and Community Hospice, with her only child, Linda, at her side. The fourth of five children born to John T. Stevens and Virginia P. Jarrett, on October 12, 1929 in Salem, WV, Doris graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1947 and served in the U. S. Navy from 1949-1953, as a Navy dental technician, earning the Good Conduct Medal.
Doris came to Washington, DC in 1955
to work as a dental technician at the National Institutes of Health, and from
1973 - 1992 as a faculty and staff member in
the Dental Assisting and Technology
programs at Montgomery Community College. A devoted, long time member of the
National Presbyterian Church, Doris was an ordained Deacon, a Stephen Minister, and served on several church committees,
most recently on the Sacraments committee and as a member of the Women's Board of Ingleside Presbyterian Retirement Center (Ingleside at Rock Creek), in Washington, DC.
Married 46 years to Charles Raymis "Duke" Botsford (died February 7, 2014), Doris is survived by daughter, Linda Ann Botsford, of Sterling, VA and brother, Cledis Ronald Stevens, of Lyle, TN.
A memorial service for Doris and Duke Botsford will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the National Presbyterian Church, Washington, DC.
