Elroy Larry Brown age 88, of Fairfax VA and Camp Springs MD, died on October 8, 2013 at Habersham House, Savannah GA. Mr. Brown was survived by his children, Constance Hardy of Sunny Isles Beach FL, Teresa Hardy of Castro Valley CA, Michael Brown of Savannah GA, Maria Luna of Dallas TX, and Patrick Brown of Hobe Sound FL. He was also survived by nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brown was a native of Marshalltown, Iowa where he graduated from high school and enlisted in the US Marine Corps. During World War II he served in the South Pacific and afterward in Northern China. Mr. Brown also served in the Korean Conflict and on the USS Boxer in the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Mr. Brown retired from the USMC after 21 years of service with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. He worked in the food service industry in the Washington DC area. He also served as a long-term, active volunteer for Youth for Tomorrow and was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 12:45 p.m. at the Post Chapel, Ft. Myer, Arlington VA. Inurnment will take place immediately after at Arlington National Cemetery.
