Francis Joseph McMahon, an Analyst with the Central Intelligence Agency, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2014 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC, in the presence of his wife and children. Francis was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 16, 1923.
He was a graduate of St. John's University in Queens, NY, and also served as a member of the US Coast Guard during WWII. In 1961 he moved to Vienna, VA, and raised his family while working for 35 years with the Central Intelligence Agency.
A founding member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Vienna, Francis was also a benefactor to the St. Mark Catholic School. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Florence J. McMahon, his five children, Michael F. McMahon (Marie Weinmann), Monica M. Vickers (David), Anne E. Iannucci (Vincent), Paul N. McMahon and Rose B. McMahon (Julie Ames). He is also survived by his four grandchildren Daniel V. Iannucci, Andrew P. Iannucci, Kevin M. Iannucci, and Patrick F. McMahon. The family will receive friends at St. Mark Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Rd., Vienna, VA on Friday, January 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. and where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 1 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Youth Apostles
or Little Sisters of the Poor in Richmond VA.
