Dr. GEORGE E. BONNEY  

Beloved husband of Efua E. Bonney, loving father of Aba Bonney Kwawu and Kofi Bonney;grandfather of Sela and Eli Kwawu who died on Saturday, June 29, 2013.
 
Dr. Bonney was an internationally renowned Statistical Geneticist and Biostatistician, Professor of Community Health and Family Medicine at the Howard University (HU) College of Medicine, and Director of the Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics Unit in the National Human Genome Center (NHGC) at HU.
 
Dr. Bonney held many positions over the course of his illustrious career in academics and research including Chairman of the Department of Biostatistics at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA and Associate Professor of Biometry & Genetics at Louisiana State University Medical Center, New Orleans, LA. He served on the Board of Directors for the National Human Genome Research Institute, the Advisory Board for Genetic Epidemiology, the Board of Directors for the American Statistical Association and was the recipient of many scientific awards, including The Tenth Annual George W. Sender Award for the best published work in biometry in any journal in North America, sponsored jointly by the American Statistical Association and the Biometrics Societies of North America.
 
Dr. Bonney was a devoted member of the Calvary Redeeming Methodist Church and an avid supporter of the Ghanaian Methodist Churches in the Diasporas. He was an accomplished pianist, musician and devoted grandfather. Founder of Village Schools of Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to education of underprivileged children in Ghana and across the continent.
 
Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 2, 6 to 8 p.m .at Dumbarton Chapel- Howard University Law School, 2900 Van Ness St NW, Washington, DC. Traditional Rites will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Armour J. Blackburn Center - Howard University Main Campus.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday August 3, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Calvary Redeeming Methodist Church, 13016 Parkland Dr. Rockville, Maryland. Interment 10:30 a.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park- 12800 Veirs Mill Rd., Rockville, MD Repast at 12 noon at the Church. May his soul rest in Peace.
