HENRY CURTIS LIND
Henry Curtis Lind of Springfield, Virginia, passed away on November 11, 2013 at the age of 92 years. He was born in Cranston, Rhode Island, October 12, 1921, son of William George and Velna Bangs Lind. He attended Princeton University
(1943) and Harvard Law School (1949). Lind served in the U.S. Army during World War II
as a staff sergeant in Military Intelligence. He continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve, from 1949-1969, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. Lind practiced law in Rhode Island until moving to Rochester, New York in 1957 to work as an editor for Lawyers Cooperative Publishing Company. In 1973, he was appointed Assistant Reporter
of Decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court. Lind was selected to be the Reporter of Decisions in 1979 and worked until his retirement in 1987. He was the founder and first president of the Association of Reporters of Judicial Decisions. Lind is survived by his three children: Henry Curtis Lind, Jr., Edward Walker Lind, and Katherine Lind Gilchrist, 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. His wife, Katherine Walker Lind, predeceased him on February 22, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF). Services private.
