H. David "Dave" Ellington, of Martinsburg, formerly of Fort Washington, MD, passed away Tuesday morning at Homewood at Martinsburg.
He was born in Burlington, NC, son of the late Harvey D. and Rosa F. (Maynor) Ellington. He married Shirley M. Hawk on November 17, 1955 in Silver Spring, MD.
Surviving are his wife of Homewood; a daughter, Laura R. Quick (husband, Mike) of Libertytown, MD; a son, David Bruce Ellington (wife, Carol) of Bedford; and three grandchildren: Dina Bartolomeo, David J. Benedict, and David T. Ellington.
Dave was employed for many years as an operating engineer for the Washington Star Newspaper, and then for the American University, Washington, DC.
He enjoyed auctioneering and antiquing which inspired him to become a fine arts appraiser.
Dave was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean War aboard the USS J.W. Weeks, attaining the rank of Boilerman third class.
A public Memorial Service with standard honors will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Arlington National Cemetery, VA. Following the service the family invites all who attend to join them at the Columbus Club of Arlington, 5115 Little Falls Road, Arlington, VA 22207.
