On February 18, 2013, longtime Bowie, MD resident, most recently on Gambrills, MD. Survived by his wife, Theresa (Abel) Gallagher; daughters Lisa Viens and Deborah Anderson; son Stephen Gallagher; 10 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Raised in Springfield, PA, served in the Penn. Air National Guard for six years, honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Jim was appointed to the Wash. D.C. Fire Dept. on March 17, 1963 and rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Fire Chief. He retired on October 1, 1994 and spent his retirement enjoying his grandchildren and continuing his life of service by actively volunteering in numerous endeavors. Jim was also a lifetime member of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Company and the Knights of Columbus. Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 16501 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery.
