Died peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at The Washington Home in Washington, DC. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leon A. Schertler and her brother, James F. Broker. She is survived by her six children, daughters, Helen Bridge (Fred), Barbara Faith (Chuck) and Nancy Schertler (Howard Dent) and sons, Steve Schertler (Laura), Tony Schertler (Greta) and John Schertler (Ruth Yamamoto); her seven grandchildren, Megan (Chris), Charlie,
Caroline, Duncan, Walker, Luke, and Lily; and her sister, Helen Broker.
A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held in the chapel at The Monsignor Thomas Duffy Parish Center next to Blessed Sacrament Church, 3630 Quesada St., NW, Washington, DC at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, followed by a reception.
