JOHN A. CONDON
Born December 5, 1943, in Chelsea, New York, and died January 27, 2014. Loving father to John and Alicia (Justin) Tierney; former husband of Mary Beth Condon; grandfather to Rose, Jack and Thomas, and uncle to 16 nieces and nephews, 20 great- nieces and nephews, and one great-great- niece. He is survived by his brother, Robert Condon; and sisters, Maureen Condon, Karen Hunt and Patricia Moler.
Condon grew up in Manhattan and joined the U.S. Army
, receiving an honorable discharge in 1965. A lifelong performer, Condon acted on network television including Homicide: Life on the Street and The West Wing, as well as HBO's The Wire and John Adams Series. He appeared in national TV commercials for Folgers Coffee and Harrah's Resort, and in motion pictures including Disney's Ladder 49 and Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.
His stage credits include principal roles in Washington's Burn Brae Dinner Theater, as well as corporate Broadway show revues in the Mid-Atlantic region. As a stand-up comedian, Condon performed at clubs, organizations, and resorts. He was rarely without a smile, joke, and warm handshake or hug.
An Irish tenor, he sang professionally at Irish pubs, private functions, clubs, and organizations, and, frequently, for appreciative friends and family.
He received his Master of Ceremonies training from the Catholic University of America, and was a member of SAG-AFTRA and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
Friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE FUNERAL HOME, 7557 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD 20814 on Sunday, February 2, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 9601 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD on Monday, February 3 at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
