Colonel, US Army (Retired)  

Jack Bubon, a retired US Army intelligence officer, died March 18, 2013 at the age of 78 from leukemia. Dear husband for 56 years to Connie Bubon; father of John Eric Bubon (deceased), Michael Bubon of Milwaukee, WI; Julie Keller of Haymarket, VA; and Leslie Byrne of Fayetteville, NC. Jack is also survived by four grandchildren and two sisters. He was born November 9, 1934, in Iowa and raised near Chicago. In 1956, Jack graduated from the University of Illinois and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. Jack also earned Master's degrees from both Penn State and Harvard. As an officer in the Army Security Agency, Jack served tours of duty in the USA, Okinawa, Vietnam, Iran, and Jordan. During his career, Jack was assigned to numerous staff and command positions in the Washington, DC area including the DIA. From 1982-84, Jack was the US Defense Attaché in Jordan. After a 28-year career as a MI officer, Jack retired as a Colonel in1986. Among his military service awards were a Bronze Star and Defense Meritorious Service Medal. After retirement, Jack worked at ASC and later as a financial planner for Edelman Financial Services before fully retiring in Fairfax. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be fondly remembered by many.
A Mass and graveside service with honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher House Foundation. Please view and sign the family guestbook at
