JOHN V. GRAZIANO
John V. Graziano, 86, died at home in Dallas, Texas on May 1, 2014. Born July 3, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, he was a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division serving in Japan and the Philippines during WWII
. He had a distinguished 38-year career in public service, including an appointment by President Ronald Reagan to the post of Inspector General of the USDA from 1981-1986. In the 1970s, as Chief of Investigations for the FAA, he organized, trained and deployed 1500 Sky Marshals to prevent aircraft hijacking. He developed and taught courses in law enforcement and crime prevention at several Universities and Agencies. After retiring, he lived for 20 years in Las Vegas, Nevada before relocating to Dallas. He was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Graziano. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan Rives of Dallas, Texas, his children: Patti Schmidt, Linda Bove, David Graziano, and Angela Graziano, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Independence Fund or Catholic Charities.
