JOHN PETER ABBADESSA (Age 90) "Johnny"  

Of Rockville, MD. peacefully passed away on September 29, 2011. He is survived by his two daughters, Judy O'Keefe and Joan Lipton, sons-in-law Dennis O'Keefe and Brian Lipton and five grandchildren, Jessica, Eric and Kelsey O'Keefe and Jared and Amy Lipton. He graduated from McKinley High School, American University and earned an MBA from Wharton School of Finance. He was a CPA and had a distinguished career in financial management in the Federal government at the GAO, as Assistant General Manager and Comptroller of the AEC and Director of Finance at the IAEA in Vienna. He proudly served as a Marine Corp Captain in the South Pacific during World War II. His numerous honors include the Arthur Fleming award as one of the ten outstanding young men in the Federal Government, AEC's Distinguished Service Award, and the Maurice Stans Award for Distinguished Federal Financial Management. He was generous and fun loving and had a passion for world travel, visiting over 88 countries.
A viewing will be held at Saint Elisabeth's Catholic Church, Montrose Road, Rockville Maryland on October 8, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. followed by a funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. A private burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Children's Inn at NIH, 7 West Drive, Bethesda, MD 20814-1509.
