GOODALE KENNETH V. GOODALE (Age 96) Passed away Sunday morning, November 24 2013, at the home of his daughter in Conneaut Lake, PA surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 23, 1917, in Conneaut, OH, and was the son of Raymond and Alice (Ward) Goodale. He was a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II and also served during the Korean War. He was known to his friends as Ken "Doc" Goodale. Mr. Goodale was employed as a housing inspector in the District of Columbia, retiring in 1979. It was after his retirement that he began his hobby of TV repairs by opening up his own TV repair shop. He was a member and Past Commander of the VFW Post 9619 in Morningside, Maryland, the Fleet Reserve Association #67 in Washington, DC, the American Legion and Elks Lodge in Camp Springs, Maryland, and also the NRA. He enjoyed going to the VFW conventions in Ocean City, Maryland every June. Mr. Goodale loved to golf, socialize and dance. He met his wife Betty Lou Goodale at the roller rink in Conneaut, and they married January 29, 1939. They spent Friday nights at the Elks, Betty would play poker, and Ken would dance with the women. They spent all their time having fun and being with their friends. Survivors include his son Rockford (Sheila) Goodale of Knoxville, TN; two daughters Anita (Robert) Sowell of Cochranton, PA, and Gretchen (Jeff) Puffer of Conneaut Lake, PA; seven grandchildren, Troy Goodale (Elizabeth), Vicki (Todd) Thurman, Paul (Paige) Goodale, Michele (Dean) Bramell, Brandi Biase, Mindy Sowell (fiancée Jeff), and Jeffrey S. Puffer; and six great-grandchildren, Bryce and Calie Biase, Jacob and Jared Bramell, and Griffin and Grayson Goodale; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and more distant relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 73 years Betty Lou (Benson) Goodale in 2012; his sister Gertrude Maukonen; and his brother Nelson Goodale. Funeral service will be 12 Noon, Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Rev. Chris Fujii officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
