MARILYNNE GISIN (Age 67)
Of McLean, Virginia, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on May 24, 2014, after a long illness. She was born July 8, 1946, in Riverdale, Md., to the late Richard and Mary Hughes.
Marilynne's nearly 50-year professional career included executive administrative and office management positions in the White House and U.S. federal agencies, including the Federal Power Commission (now the Department of Energy), President's Committee on Consumer Interests, Consumer Product Safety Commission, the White House Office of Consumer Affairs and the National Council on Disability.
Later in her career, Marilynne held positions with national trade associations and private industry groups, including the American Rehabilitation Association, National Association for Medical Equipment Services and The Onyx Group.
She most recently served as Facility Security Officer with The Louis Berger Group, Inc., an internationally recognized consulting firm, where she was responsible for executing and maintaining hundreds of government personnel clearances.
Marilynne also was an active volunteer with Reach to Recovery, an American Cancer Society program that helps breast cancer
patients with the diagnosis, treatment and effects of cancer. For more than 20 years, she gave her time and energy to helping women navigate their breast cancer experience, providing life-changing guidance, support and friendship.
She loved movies, reading, traveling and staying active with her many friends. Her greatest love in life was her family, including daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Daniel Hensgen of Annandale, Va., and beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Mia.
Marilynne will forever be remembered for her inner strength, love of life and beauty she brought to this world. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on June 21 at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. A private interment is planned.
