GIBSON MARY M. GIBSON Mary Monica Gibson, 62, of Springfield, Virginia, passed away on July 25, 2014 during a walk in the woods with her dog, Bradley. Born in 1951 in Ravenna, Ohio to Monica Cecelia Drouhard and Peter Alva Drouhard, Mary lived a full and fruitful life in Northern Virginia, surrounded by family and friends. Mary worked hard, gave generously, and loved fiercely. After serving in the US Marine Corps for eight years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Thompson Van Lines, Arlington Community Residents Incorporated, and MetroPace Construction. Always pursuing new endeavors, she was also a certified massage therapist, a hypnotherapist, and an entrepreneur. (She is the proud inventor of the Snuglove!) Mary regularly donated platelets and volunteered countless hours of her time to worthy causes. She helped build and maintain cabins and lodges on the Appalachian Trail, and helped disabled adults pursue more independent lives. Intelligent and fun-loving, she enjoyed many hobbies with her family. She was an avid hiker and a formidable Scrabble player. She loved crossword puzzles and designing scavenger hunts for her children and grandchildren. Mary approached life with a quiet, youthful grace, and will be fondly remembered for her kindness, humor, and warmth. Her Springfield home, in particular, was a place of acceptance and hospitality where every guest felt like a member of her family. Mary is survived by her husband, Jack Luksik; her brothers, Louie and Leo Drouhard; her children, Richard Gibson, Lisa Clickener, and Monica Chagnon; and her 10, soon to be 11, grandchildren. A memorial celebrating Mary and her life will be held at the Bear's Den lodge in Bluemont, Virginia (a facility she helped to renovate), at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6. All who knew Mary are invited to attend and share their memories. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
