MICHAEL G. REESE
Michael Reese, longtime Bethesda resident, BCC High School class of 1959, outstanding football player, insurance executive, devoted father, and husband of Margaret P Reese (formerly Popkins), died of congestive heart failure on April 30, 2013.
Mr. Reese, a native of Chicago, Illinois, and a graduate of Vanderbilt University
, spent 50 years in the insurance industry as an independent agent and founding partner of ReeseYeatman & Associates, a Bethesda based firm. His Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, likeability, and down to earth approach contributed to his success. He spent many years of insurance committee work at Congressional C.C. where he was a member since 1977.
As a standout football player at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School he was the recipient of many awards, including Washington Post and Washington Star First Team All Met and Washington D.C. Touchdown Club Honors. He was a leader on the 1958 State Championship Team that was awarded number one overall ranking by the Post and Star. He was recruited to play college football by Bear Bryant and Don Shula but eventually settled on Vanderbilt where he became co-captain.
Because of his commitment to the Wound Center at Georgetown University Hospital, they have named the Diabetic Limb Salvage Patient Fund in his honor.
Funeral services were attended by approximately 250 people at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on May 7, 2013. He will be missed by many.
