Ollie passed March 30, 2014. Cherishing his memory are his wife of 34 years, Marchita; children: Dr. Oliver Crawford, Jr., Francesca Britton, Dr. Alicia Crawford, Marc Britton and seven grandchildren. He was a graduate of the University of Chicago, Meharry Medical College, and practiced medicine in Chicago. He was the first of three generations of physicians.
Dr. Crawford spent 20 years on the faculty of Northwestern University Medical School; was the first Black Chief Resident at Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago; the first Black President of the Chicago Pediatrics Society; created Altgeld Clinic for underserved populations in Chicago; co-founded Volunteers in Medicine in Hilton Head, SC. Ollie was a member of The Guardsmen and Kappa Alpha Psi. He was an avid golfer, gardener and writer.
Following a private family blessing, friends are welcome to celebrate Dr. Crawford's life at 15100 Interlachen Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20906 on April 12, at 1 p.m.
