Parle Thomas Blake (age 71) passed away peacefully at home on Sunday June 9, 2013 after a long course of Alzheimer's disease. Parle was surrounded by family and friends during the final weeks of his life including dear wife of 29 years, Blair McVeigh Blake; six beloved children, John (Amy), Matthew (Jane), Joanna Hill (Kenny), Carrington (fiancée Ben Clements), Adeline and Riely; and seven cherished grandchildren, Henry, Duncan, Francie, Jimmy, Helen, Mary and Willa.
Predeceased by parents Jack and Helen, Parle was born in Chicago, Illinois where he attended Catholic elementary and high school.
He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1963 and earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence at Georgetown Law. He enjoyed a distinguished 32-year career as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, retiring as a Unit Chief in the Legal Counsel Division. Parle was known to reflect fondly on his Irish heritage, he was an avid runner, and he loved annual family vacations at the Outer Banks.
Relatives and friends may attend a funeral Mass on Friday, June 14 at 2 p.m. St. Mary's Catholic Church, 310 South Royal Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund,34 Washington Street, Suite 200,Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
