Cmdr. Paul F. Wagner, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, departed this life March 19, 2014, following a brief illness. Cmdr. Wagner was born November 12, 1922 to Paul Henry and Almira Widger Wagner in New York Mills, New York. He attended the University of Georgia, where he saw, arranged to meet, dated, and subsequently married his wife of sixty-seven years, Anita Eppinger Wagner. Cmdr. Wagner enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War. He served as the junior officer on board SC-632, a sub-chaser assigned to the Pacific Theater, which participated in the invasion of the Philippines, as well as the invasion of Okinawa. Cmdr. Wagner is survived by his wife, Anita; a son, Paul Frederick Wagner, Jr.; a daughter, Karen Anita Wagner; two grand-sons, Paul Frederick Wagner III, and William Henry Eppinger Widger Wagner; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Jean King Wagner. Funeral services will be held at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church 4250 North Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Peter's Church. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
