Of Alexandria, VA, on June 18, 2014 passed away at Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center.
Born in Washington, DC and a third generation Washingtonian, he was the son of Russell and Evelyn Brownell.
He is survived by his sisters, Kay Emory of Ocean View, Delaware and Bonnie Polvinale of Alexandria, VA.
Bob, or "Robbie" as he was known to his family, graduated from Ft. Hunt High School and attended the University of Maryland; he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Travis, AFB in California. Following his discharge from military service he joined the City of Fairfax Police Department for several years and then served for more than 20 years with the George Mason University police force and retired in 2011 as Master Police Officer. While at GMU he served as a training officer and proud member of their Honor Guard.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Sunday, June 22 at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home in Fairfax, VA. Friends will be received at 1 p.m. followed by the service at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capital Caring, Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center, Arlington, VA.
