On Friday, May 3, 2013. ROBERT M. BOR, 90, of Silver Spring, MD. Loving husband for 67 years of Judith Bor; father of David (Robin Barnes), Victoria (David DuGoff) and Jonathan (Sally Mericle) Bor; brother of Flora August; and grandfather of Jacob (Marsha Parrilla), Rebecca, and Benjamin Bor and Benjamin, Eva and Daniel DuGoff.
A practicing lawyer for 55 years, he served in the Office of General Counsel for the Department of Agriculture, as chief counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture, as an expert in administrative law with the firm of Winston and Strawn, and in retirement, as pro bono counsel for asylum seekers from Africa. Deeply committed to participatory democracy, he engaged in many civic activities in Montgomery County. He also served on the board of Temple Sinai and participated in many activities in his retirement community, Riderwood Village.
Born in the Bronx, NY, he was a graduate of New York University and Columbia Law School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a meteorologist.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, May 6 in the Chapel at Riderwood Village, 3140 Gracefield Rd., Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Temple Sinai or to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
