Died on Friday, July 5, 2013 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Therese was valedictorian of the Hayfield High School class of 1976, then graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with honors. While working at Cedars Sinai and attending grad school at UCLA she suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage that left lifelong impairment. Undaunted, she returned to DC to work at the Department of Agriculture and received her Masters in IT from George Washington University in 2000. She is survived by her parents, Dolores and James Windt, as well as brothers John (Kelly) and Gerard (Julie) and sister Fran (Scott) Akridge. She is also survived by her nieces, Jesse and Jaime and nephews, Jared and Joshua. Extended family includes Michael and Janet Muto and family, the Boretti families, the Mazzola families, the Natolas and the Tassinari family. In addition to her family, Therese graced the lives of legions of friends from many facets of her life journey. Everyone who knew her enjoyed her sense of humor, her zest for life, and recognized her love of animals.
Funeral service will be Sunday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, with reception following. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Penn Plaza, Ste 1710, NY NY 10122. or to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, 2501 Oak Lawn Ave, Ste 435, Dallas, TX 75219
