HALPIN TIMOTHY E. HALPIN Timothy E. Halpin, beloved husband, father and grandfather, was born July 16, 1944, in Minneapolis, MN passed away April 30, 2013. He grew up in in Rush City, MN, graduating from Rush City High School in 1962. He spent 1 year at St. Thomas University in St. Paul and later graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Psychology and a minor in History. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon J. Mohr, on June 8, 1963. They lived in various places around the Twin Cities until settling in Apple Valley, MN, where they lived for 10 years. Tim had a love of flying. His years spent in general aviation as an instructor and pilot led to his 30-year career with the Federal Aviation Administration, starting in Minneapolis as an air traffic controller. His FAA career took him and the family to Washington, DC; Detroit; Kansas City; and back to Washington, DC again, where they lived in Dumfries/Montclair, VA, for 30 years. After retiring from the FAA in 2000, he worked for AMTI and Titan/Cayenta. He was most recently a Senior Program Manager for the FAA with Crown Consulting Corp. Tim was an avid motorcyclist, having just received his 500,000 mile award from Morton's BMW in Fredericksburg, VA, on April 21, 2013. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a current member and officer of the Ancient Order of Hibernians at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Triangle, VA, where he had been a parishioner for almost 30 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Joseph and Helen Halpin; brother, Michael Halpin; son, Timothy Halpin, Jr.; son-in-law, James H. Allan. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sharon J. Halpin; daughter, Cristin Halpin Allan; granddaughters, Lisa Allan Potter (Greg); Michelle Allan and Rachel Allan Murtha (Sean); and great grandsons, Braden, Landon and Cameron Potter. He is remembered as a man of faith, loving family man, and a good friend to all he met. Family and friends will be coming together to celebrate his life on the following days, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA 22193. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Rd., Triangle VA 22172 on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. Celebration of Remembrance and interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418 on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2 p.m.
