Maguire, Amelia "Molly"
Amelia "Molly" Maguire, 82, Mosinee, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born June 26, 1931, in Wausau, the daughter of the late William and Frances (Lang) Hack. On August 12, 1952 she married Donald Maguire at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He died February 22, 2010.
Molly attended the St. Mary's School of Nursing in Wausau, and early in her career, she worked at St. Mary's Hospital. Initially, Molly was the first nurse at the Marathon County Institutions and later became the Director of Nursing at the North Central Health Care Facilities for 28 years.
In her retirement, Molly and Don began the Maguire Tree Farm, selling Christmas trees, and was a member of the Wisconsin Christmas Tree Growers Association.
Molly proudly served on the Marathon County Civil Service Commission, was a founding member of the Marathon County Employees Credit Union, was a member of St. Monica's Council, the VFW Ladies Auxillary as well as St. Paul Parish Council.
Molly loved her family and observing the birds and wildlife on the farm.
Survivors include five children, Marie Maguire, Elkhorn, John (Therese) Maguire, Mosinee, Ann (Michael) Whaley, Oregon, WI, Kathy (Alan) Bargender, Joliet, Ill., and Patty (Christopher) Cimino, Mosinee; nine grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole) Maguire, Mosinee, Dr. Amanda (Travis) Hoffmann, Wausau, Patrick Whaley, Fitchburg, Nathan Whaley, Madison, Jason (Yana) Bargender, Northumberland, Penn., Curtis Bargender, Albany, New York, Katy (Dr. Michael) Braunsky, Ames, Iowa, Sarah Cimino, Wausau, and Erin Cimino, Mosinee; a great-granddaughter, Allison Maguire; and a sister, Eleanor Ryan, Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Duncan Maguire, two brothers, Al and Louis Hack, and a son-in-law, Melvin Bartley Jr.
Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, February 1, 2014, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Norman Boneck will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:30 am Saturday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Paul Parish Endowment Fund.
