D. C. "Clark" Everest Jr, age 91, of Schofield died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Renaissance Assisted Living, Weston.
Clark was born the only son of D.C. and Rita G. (Gouin) Everest Sr. on July 18, 1921 in Wausau. Clark married the former Kathryn Krause, also from Wausau, on June 23, 1971. They were married for forty wonderful years and did everything together. They traveled the world for fly fishing. During the summers they lived in Colorado, Idaho, and Montana and spent winters at their home in Florida. In 1993 they moved to a single residence in Minocqua, and then in 2004 they moved back to their hometown Wausau area.
He owned and operated two companies; Clarkson Co and Evercolor Printing and Advertising.
Clark served in World War II for 3 years and 9 months in the South Pacific with the 3rd Air Commando Group- 5th Air Force stationed in the Philippines, Leyte, Mindoro and Luzon. He also served for a short time during the Korean War.
Clark was an avid outdoorsman. His top passions were freshwater fly fishing and salt water fly fishing. He was a certified instructor by the Federation of Fly Fishers and his salt water fishing included tarpon, snook, and redfish. He also enjoyed both duck and goose hunting. Clark taught and enjoyed both scuba diving as a N.A.V.I. instructor, as well as aerobatic flying. He also played semi pro football for the Merrill Foxes. Winter skiing was another one of his passions, including ski jumping.
Clark was a member of many organizations, including the Elks Club, a lifetime member of the E.A.A., Trout Unlimited, the Federation of Fly Fishers, the Coastal Conservation Association of Florida, and the American Legion.
He will be remembered for his good sense of humor and generosity.
Clark is survived by his children Patti Clark Kjelstad, Clark (Carole) Everest III, John Everest, Jan Everest, and step-son Phillip (Connie) Uekert; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Clark is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Patricia, mother of Patricia Clark Kjelstad and Pamela Hutton; 2nd wife, Elaine, mother of David Clark III, John Scott, and Jan Kara; and 3rd wife, Kathryn, mother of Phil Uekert; his daughter Pamela (Scott) Hutton; and his two sisters, Ruth Weaver and Helen Kimball.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Umland, the staff of Aspirus Hospice Care, and the staff of Renaissance Assisted Living for their compassionate and excellent care of Clark.
