Russ, Dwayne Albert

Dwayne Albert Russ, 88, died peacefully at home Monday, July 7th, 2014. Born May 31st, 1926, in Wausau, WI, he resided with his wife, Lorraine, in Schofield until his death.

Dwayne was employed for 40 years with General Telephone Co. Dwayne, known affectionately as "Jarvie" retired in 1986 as a supervisor.

A WWII vet, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific as an electrician.

Drawing up the plans, Dwayne built his own home and a north woods cabin. He loved fishing, bow hunting and golfing.

A frugal, hard worker, he was able to fix anything and solve almost any problem often improvising with his own inventions.

Dwayne was a builder of small boats, using fiberglass to make his own arrows and fishing rods. A jokester, story teller and giver of sage advice. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

A loving husband of 63 years, he also enjoyed his twelve grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Russ (Werba); children, Maxine Hunt, Stevens Point, WI; Sally Osbourn, (Allan), Tulsa, OK; Cynthia Plautz, Littleton, CO; Peggy Hettinga (Jerry), Wausau, WI; Timothy Russ, Schofield, WI; and Donna Thut, Wausau, WI.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Cooper, Houston, TX; son, Thomas Russ;and granddaughter, Marsha Joseph.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. at St. Therese Church, Schofield. Military honors will be held at Restlawn Cemetery after Mass in the chapel.
