James "Jim" F. Prelipp, age 66 of Birnamwood, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital, Weston.
Jim was born on April 11, 1946 in Birnamwood, son of Frank and Agnes (Hable) Prelipp. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He married Darlene Hargraves on December 13, 1969 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2006.
Jim worked as a mechanic for Conner Forest Industry, Kersten Lumber and most recently Mattoon Lumber Co. He enjoyed working on small engines and making wood splitters. In his retirement, he also enjoyed excavating with his heavy machinery.
Survivors include his mother, Agnes Prelipp of the Homme Home, Wittenberg; his son, Kevin (Sonya) Prelipp, Hortonville; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Brianna; brother Robert (Victoria) Prelipp, Birnamwood; sisters Kathy (Dennis) VanProoyen, Birnamwood, and Linda (Steve) Guensburg, Weston; nieces and nephews,Steven (Annie) Prelipp, and their four children, Callie, Cece, Shawnie and Hannah and her son, Carson; Chrissy (James) Collins-Ray and their two daughters, Raven and Jada; Ronnda (Scott) Teuchert and their two children, Preston and Bryce; Teejay Prelipp; Tammy Thiele and her sons, Ryan, Shane and Nicholas; Sue VanProoyen and her daughter Brianna and her son, Koleton; Lisa (Aaron) Buchberger and their son Jordan; Matthew Guensburg and his son Carson.
He was preceded in death by his father Frank and his wife, Darlene.
Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Brainard Funeral Home-Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Rev. Ralph Hankermeyer of Trinity Lutheran Church in Birnamwood will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Military honors will follow at the funeral home.
