Janet E. Luechau

Janet E. Luechau, 74, Wausau, died on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital, Weston.

She was born on January 24, 1940 in the town of Wausau, the daughter of the late Carl and Erna (Giese) Krueger. On January 10, 1959, Janet was united in marriage to Arnold "Arnie" Luechau at St. John's Lutheran Church, town of Wausau. He survives.

Janet was a member of the Schofield Lioness Club, was a former leader for the Girl Scout's and Brownies and was very active in the Elkettes of the Wausau Elks Lodge #248. She loved gardening, fishing, feeding and watching the birds. In her younger years, Janet enjoyed playing volleyball as well as coaching and refereeing. Janet enjoyed spending time at the cottage and especially the time spent with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold "Arnie", Wausau; three children, Julie (Al) Schepp, Wausau, Tim Luechau, Schofield and Carla (Bill) Staszak, Wausau; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon "Mike" Krueger, Marathon and three sisters-in-law, Helen Krueger, Schofield, Betty Krueger, Wausau and Anita Wruck, Wittenberg.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ellsworth and Leroy; one brother-in-law, Roger Schmidt and one sister-in-law, Nancy Krueger.

The funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, 6th St. Wausau. Rev. Ted Gullhaugen will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5PM to 8PM and again on Wednesday from 9:30AM until the time of service all at the church.
