Lorraine S. Luedtke, 84, of Weston, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital. She was born March 22, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Henry Zakowicki and Stella Zakowicki Walker. She married LeRoy Luedtke on May 5, 1949 in Cusseta, Georgia. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2011.
Lorraine graduated from Wausau Senior High School in 1947 and retired from Johnson Hills Department Store in 1982 where she was employed as a sales associate and buyer. She enjoyed travelling, cooking, entertaining, the card game of Euchre, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lorraine was an Elkette, Wausau Lodge #248.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Joe) Metz, Wausau, Jacalyn (William) Thompson, Omaha, NE; and son, Mitchell (Julie) Luedtke, Wheaton, IL; six grandchildren, Stephen Metz, Mason City, IA, Stephanie (Mike) Limani, Creston, IA, Dr. Jonathan (Molly) Thompson, Omaha, NE, Aimee (Kent) Webster, Chicago, IL, Meghan (Ben) Patke, Olathe, KS, Amanda (Patrick) Adkins, Olathe, KS; and three great-grandchildren, Eliza Limani, Jeremiah Thompson, and Abigail Adkins; one sister, Nancy (Thomas) Elwart, Huntley, IL.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her step-father, Arthur Walker; and brother, Sylvester Zakowicki.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 406 Grant St., Wausau. The Reverend Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will be held following the service at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, WI. Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the family for designation to First Presbyterian Church or Wausau Elks Lodge #248.
