Louise Baumann Thompson, age 82, passed away June 10, 2013 at Horizon Hospice, Mequon WI.
She was born January 18, 1931 in the Town of Texas to the late Rudolph and Emma (Lemke) Baumann. After graduating from Wausau High School, Louise received her teaching certificate from the Lincoln County Normal School in Merrill, Wisconsin and became a schoolteacher in a one room schoolhouse. On June 11, 1955, she married Donald George Thompson at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine River.
Louise was a mother, homemaker, and artist. She was a member of the Wisconsin Valley Art Association. In 1997, she moved to the Milwaukee area to be closer to her daughters and help care for her grandson. She was a phenomenal grandmother. Louise loved painting and drawing, music, sewing, cooking, and crafting. Louise's artwork was featured in numerous art shows, and she won many awards over the years. She was known for her wit, sarcasm, and sense of humor.
She leaves behind her daughters Diane Thompson (David Frederick) of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and Terri Thompson of Brookfield, Wisconsin; her loving grandson, Samuel Frederick of Wauwatosa; two brothers, Theodore (Betty) Baumann of Wausau and Kenneth (Gay) Baumann of Wausau; two sisters, Patricia (Richard) Rostal of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Jean (Richard) Binner of New Berlin.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald; two sisters, Margaret and Evelyn; and four brothers, Dan, Victor, Harold, and Rudolph Baumann.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 14, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 930 Edgewood Road, Wausau. Rev. Kemp Jones will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel at Restlawn Memorial Park.
