Richard (Dick) Freeman

Richard W. Freeman (Dick), age 85, of Rothschild died on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Saint Clare's Hospital, Weston.

Dick was born on October 21, 1927 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Fador L. Freeman and Florence (Freiberg) Freeman. After high school he went on to serve his country honorably in the US Army during World War II and later graduated from Cornell College in Iowa. Dick married Marilyn (Carrell) on February 21, 1948 in Oak Park, Ill.. He worked as the Wausau branch manager for the American Optical Company for over 30 years.

Dick was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting especially for waterfowl with his loyal Golden Retrievers. He was a well recognized player in the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball League playing on several area teams into his early 40's. Dick was a lifelong supporter of Ducks Unlimited and a member of the local American Legion Post 10, the Elks lodge 248, the Gideons and a 32 degree Mason.

Survivors include his beloved wife Marilyn of Rothschild; sons; Mark (Denise) Freeman and Jim (Pam) Freeman all of Green Bay; sister in law; Polly Freeman, Rothschild, grandchildren; Erin (Neil) Green, DePere, Lindsey (Ben) Mathys, Green Bay, Ben Freeman, Ashley Freeman, Matt Freeman all of Green Bay, great grandchildren; Cassidy Green, Meredith Green, Henry Green, and Rowan Mathys, two nieces; Linda (Ron) Stellmach, MN and Faye (Bernie) Setter of North Dakota.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents and brother Wilbur Freeman.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1530 Grand Ave, Schofield. The Rev. Larry Treece will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at church. Burial will be at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery in Merrill, WI.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be given to Peace United Church of Christ or Shriners Hospital for Children, PO Box 1510, Ranson, WV 25438-4510.
