Russell LeRoy Parker, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born on June 28, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Russell and Emma (Smith) Parker. On June 28, 1958, LeRoy was united in marriage to Mary Margraf in Lyons, WI. She survives.
LeRoy served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1961. He held many jobs, but his favorite place of employment was Helen & Lyle Jacobs Construction in Lake Geneva. He and his wife then purchased Neighbors Inn Tavern in Birnamwood. LeRoy retired from Kolbe & Kolbe in Wausau in 1998.
LeRoy enjoyed golfing, bowling and watching sporting events, including football, basketball and baseball.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Mary Parker, Birnamwood; two sons, Randy (Cindy) Parker, Lake Geneva and Rick (Tammy) Parker, Birnamwood; two grandchildren, Rick L. Parker and Steven Byrnes and one great-grandson, Patrick Byrnes. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeffrey Mueller; two aunts, Mrs. Richard Byrnes, Mrs. John King; six uncles, Herman Jr., George, Wallace, Tilford, Frank and James and also many cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6pm on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Rev. Matthew Christians will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4pm until the time of services at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Darling-Gunderson American Legion Post #341 following the service.
