Donald L. Wincentsen

Donald L. Wincentsen, 85 of Weston, died October 9, 2013 at the Mount View Care center and with the support of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. A very special thanks to Donald's significant other, Elsie Snowske, who contributed so much tender loving care.

He was born on May 9, 1928, in Antigo, son of the late Norman and Katherine (Edgell). On July 8, 1950 he married the late Joyce (Muller) in Tucson, Arizona. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a decorated Korean War veteran.

Donald worked for American Family Insurance for over 30 years, where he started as an agent and then retired as District Manager.

Donald loved to play poker along with travelling. He enjoyed dining out and meeting people. He was a member of the Elks Club, VFW, past member of Lions Club and many other organizations. He served as an Alderman for the City of Wausau, which during his term was involved in the building of the Central Wisconsin Airport among other civic projects. He enjoyed being involved in the community and was an active hunter.

Survivors include his son, Barry (Lynn) Wincentsen of Bullhead City, Arizona; daughter, Becky (David) Barrios of Sonoita, Arizona; four grandchildren, Brandon Barrios, Weston Barrios, and Chasen Barrios of Tucson, Arizona, and Danica (Andy) Szekeress of Mosinee; two great grandchildren, Cooper and Claudia Szekeress, Mosinee. Donald is further survived by his sister, Colleen Wincentsen of Madison; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David and Eric Wincentsen; his brother, Wayne Wincentsen; and sister Carmen Kramer.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 22, 2013 at The First Presbyterian Church, 406 Grant Street, Wausau. Pastor Joy Nelson-Jeffers will preside.
