Richard Warren Delap, 89, of Weston, passed away Thursday December 19, 2013, at Wellington Place. He was born November 11, 1924, to Warren and Martha (Seidel) Delap. He is survived by his wife, Rita Jean (Zoromski) Delap. Richard served our country proudly in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He has two daughters; Beth (Jeff) Wetterau, Plover; and Deb (Al) Drake, Rhinelander; one brother Lyle (Marge) Delap, Rhinelander; and one sister Judy (Bob) Glockner, Solon Springs. Five grandchildren; Kelly Dahlstrom, Franklin; Lane (Natasha) Wetterau, Junction City; Tyler (Dan) Zastava, Plover; Jesse (Jody) Drake, Neenah; Casey (Stefanie) Drake, Lake Geneva; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Juletta Fell, and his brother Kenneth. He was the Director of Marathon County Social Services. Richard was proud to have a hand in the start-up of the Marathon County Employee Credit Union and the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. He also was a member of the Lions Club. He had a passion for golf (with a number of hole-in-ones) and bowling, and enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds. He was very active at St. Therese parish activities, such as the church picnic, dart ball, and ushering at Mass. He was a family man at heart and doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a Mass of Christian burial Friday January 3, 2013, at 11:00 with a visitation starting at 9:30 until start of Mass, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild.
