Wittnebert, William J.
William J. Wittnebert, in Pinehurst, N.C., passed to a more peaceful place on January 19, 2014. Son of the late Julia LaCerra and Lester Wittnebert. Born an only child on New Years Eve 1925 in Jersey City, NJ. He had just celebrated his 88th birthday. Dad graduated from Bordentown Military Institute college prep, with his sights set on Westpoint. He enlisted in The United States Navy and subsequently attended Princeton University where he played football.
For those who new him, Princeton clearly stole his heart.
Mary Ellen West from Westfield, N.J. caught his eye, they married and raised 2 girls in Westport Ct. There he started his own firm, Fastec Inc., and enjoyed a successful career as a manufacturers rep. He was the consummate salesman. Pinehurst was the obvious choice for retirement, as they had maintained a second residence there due to their adoration of golf. They made good friends and enjoyed many good years there until Mary Ellen's death in 2007.
Bill was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen Christine and is survived by daughter Mary Elizabeth of Fairfield , Ct. He remained very close to his cousin Louise Roga throughout his life.
Services were private. Donations may be made to First Health Hospice, P.O. Box 5889, Pinehurst, N.C. 28374. I thank all of the kind people who helped my father through his illness.
