Carrel Wesley Ewing, 76, died on June 29, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. The son of Carrel and Gladys Ewing of Sutter, Mr. Ewing was born on March 7, 1937, in Quincy. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1959 with a degree in engineering and became a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Ewing married Gayle Ann Kissick of Kansas City, Kan., in October 1962. Mr. Ewing enjoyed a full career in the technology business, starting his career with IBM. He later joined Masstor Systems before founding Server Technology Inc. in 1986. Mr. Ewing was chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Server Technology Inc. until his death. He is survived by his wife, Gayle; his son, Brandon and his wife, Niki; his daughter, Wendy and her husband, Ted; his son Spencer and his wife, Stephanie; seven grandchildren and his beloved black labs, Gus and Jacques. His sister, Pat Freiburg of Quincy, also survives. SERVICES: 2-4 p.m. Sunday celebration of life will be held at the Montreux Golf and Country Club, 16475 Bordeaux Drive, Reno, Nev.
