Donald Adrian Scott Jr., 67, of Spring Hill, Tenn., formerly of Quincy, died Friday, May 23, 2014 at NHC Healthcare in Cool Springs, Tenn. Don was born Feb. 17, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Donald A. Scott Sr. and Helen Lambert Scott. He was a 1965 graduate of Quincy (Ill.) High School and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign. Don was an entrepreneur and during his lifetime had owned several businesses, including a homebuilding business in Texas and a real estate company in North Carolina. He was a leader in his community, earning numerous awards. He loved a challenge and enjoyed politics, the Cowboys, computers, Shakespeare and the Optimist creed. He was of the Methodist faith. Don is survived by his mother, Helen Scott of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; sisters, Judi (Ron) Choat of Cuyahoga Falls, Janice (John) Hibbert of Quincy, and Kelly Scott of Cuyahoga Falls; a brother, J. Michael Scott of Cuyahoga Falls; children, Traci Farley and Stephanie Borello of Joliet, Angela Gans of Florida, Beth (Beau) Hornsby of Virginia and Mathew Scott of St. Louis; grandchildren, Michael, Kyle, Toni, Brandi, Mathew, Diana, Ethan, Jack and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Nathan, Mason, and Zachary due in July; and numerous nieces, nephews and treasured friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Scott, and an adopted daughter, Allyson. SERVICES: A gathering for the family was held Sunday, May 25, in the Williams Funeral Home and Crematory, Columbia, Tenn. Cremation rites have been accorded. MEMORIALS: Salvation Army in his memory.
