MILAN, Ill. -- Edwin L. Minear Sr., 67, of Milan, died Wednesday (July 17, 2013) in his home. Edwin Lee Minear was born on July 12, 1946, in Unionville, Mo., a son of Royal and Betty Mullenix Minear. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He was proud to be a veteran, and survived Agent Orange-related throat cancer through the 1990s. Ed was owner/operator of the Katie Did Tavern for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 569 of Milan, VFW Post 1303, Vietnam Veterans of America, Marine Corps League, Moose Lodge, Eagles, and Southside Boat Club. He was a diehard Bears fan, and loved his Harleys. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and cookouts, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a proud father and grandfather. Ed had a full life, and will be sorely missed by many. Survivors include, children, Sabreena (Todd) Dusenberry, Brandy (Dean) Harper, Dawn Bryner, Royal (Missy) Minear, Matt (Julia) Ballard, Marcus (Amanda) Ballard, Eddie L. Minear Jr., Mick Minear, Elizabeth A. (Brad Baker) Minear; grandchildren, Blake and Megan Dusenberry, Alonzo Wise, Dean and Hana Harper, Kellsie Bryner, Keenan Shorter, Kayle and Ashlee Minear, Matt Jr. and Miah Ballard, Destiny and Addisun Ballard, Jaiden Minear, Elijah Minear, and Cameron Baker; a great-grandchild, Damauri McCaw; a sister, Beatrice â€˜Sis' Minear; brothers Ken, Chuck and Jerry Minear; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elizabeth June Minear; a granddaughter Kyleigh Harper; and special girlfriend, Stacy Westin. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, Ill. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, with military rites accorded by Milan American Legion Post 569.
