CANTON, Mo. -- Eston L. Moon of Canton died Saturday (March 29, 2014) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. He was 89. He was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Gregory Landing to Roy and Faye Higbee Moon. He married Mary Jean Long Moon on Feb. 1, 1947, in Canton. Mr. Moon graduated from Canton High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his time in the service, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years and was a lifelong farmer at Gregory Landing. Mr. Moon is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Moon; two sons, John Moon and his wife, C.J., of Kahoka, and Terry Moon and his wife, Julie, of Canton; six grandchildren, Terra Logsdon (Mark) of Eldridge, Iowa, Kate Moon (Jordan) of Wheaton, Ill., Corey Moon (Stacie) of Macon, Audrey Moon of Wheaton, Neal Moon of Galesburg, Ill., and Kelsey Moon of Canton; his sister, Barb Carskadon of Canton; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, William Moon. SERVICES: There are no services scheduled. Cremation rites were accorded.
