Evelyn Asbridge Obituary
HAMILTON, Ill. -- Evelyn Asbridge, 85, of Hamilton, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday (April 21, 2014) in the Lexington Square Health Care Center in Keokuk, Iowa.

She was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Keokuk, a daughter of Walter and Alice Wernli Bolton. She married Ralph Asbridge in Bethel Presbyterian Church in Hamilton. He died Feb. 28, 1986.

Evelyn attended Hamilton schools and graduated from Elvaston High School. She is also a graduate of Western Illinois University, Macomb. Evelyn taught school for 51 years. Teaching was the love of her life, and near the end of her career, she was known as the "Energizer Bunny," because she just kept going! She taught at area schools, including Pleasant Hill (Sonora Township School), Hamilton Community Unit School District, West Pike School District and Fort Madison Community School District. She was a member of the Lee County Retired Teachers' Association.

Evelyn attended church services at First Christian Church, Bethel Presbyterian Church, and United Methodist Church, all of Hamilton. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Nauvoo Historical Society and Western Illinois Threshers.

Evelyn enjoyed making crafts for nursing homes and the Illinois Veterans Home. She also enjoyed lawn and gardening and attending community activities. She especially loved the time she spent with her friends and family.

Survivors include three sons, Kris (Cheryl) Asbridge of Keokuk, Kevin Asbridge of Blue Springs, Mo., and Kerry (Jeri) Asbridge of Hamilton; one brother, Charles (Judy) Bolton of Bowen; five grandchildren, Kane Asbridge, Sumer (Adam) Allensworth-Wallace, Kaitlyn Asbridge, Ryan Asbridge and Alisha (Jacob) Rudd; one great-grandchild, Jaxon Rudd; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Bolton of Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Donald "Bud" Bolton.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday in United Methodist Church, Hamilton, with Bob Wagner conducting. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Hamilton.

VISITATION: 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the church.

MEMORIALS: Bethel Presbyterian Church, First Christian Church or United Methodist Church, all of Hamilton.
