James Wesley Doyle, 68, formerly of Quincy, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at home in Lindenhurst. He was born in Reno, Nev., but grew up in Quincy. He was a 1963 graduate of Quincy High School, where he was active in the band and jazz band. He attended the University of Illinois and Quincy University, and received his master's degree from Northern Illinois University. He held various positions in city government consulting and management. He served an extended tour in Vietnam with distinction and received two Bronze Stars and the Army Commendation Medal. He is survived by a brother, George of Norton Shores, Mich.; a half brother, Dr. Mark Doyle; a nephew, Jay (Claudia) Doyle of Parkland, Fla.; and a niece, Jeana (Jay) Kersman of Grand Haven, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Michael Doyle of Lodi, Calif., and Eileen G. Doyle of Quincy.
