Janet Lee Terwische Obituary
Janet Lee Terwische, 76, of 603 Washington St., died at 1:26 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 22, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.

Janet was born July 23, 1937, in Quincy, a daughter of Walter H. and Alvina J. Stoermer Terwische.

She was baptized at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church, which is now Trinity United Church of Christ, where she is a member. She was confirmed at Faith United Church of Christ in Muscatine, Iowa.

Janet was a 1955 graduate of Muscatine High School and a 1957 graduate of Muscatine Junior College. In 1961, Janet earned her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She received her master's degree in religious education from Eden Seminary in Webster Grove, Iowa, in 1968. She taught school in Iowa for several years.

After returning to Quincy, Janet was employed at Gem City Savings for 15 years. She was then employed at Mays, Walden and Anastas PC for over 15 years. She was a former member of the Quincy Symphony Chorus.

She was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she had served as trustee and elder. While Janet served on the board, she held positions as treasurer and president of the Consistory. Janet was a church school teacher, and a member of the Chancel Choir, the Handbell Choir, the Evening Guild and Fireside. She also had the opportunity to go on several mission trips with the youth from Trinity.

Janet is survived by several cousins; great-cousins; great-great-cousins; many friends; and her cat, Cinnamon.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Terwische; a sister-in-law, Virginia Terwische; a nephew, David Terwische; and an uncle, Adolf Terwische and his wife, Vivian.

SERVICES: 7 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. Timothy A. White conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the church.

MEMORIALS: Trinity United Church of Christ.
