Jeffrey David VandenBoom, 32, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Quincy, died Sunday (March 9, 2014) in University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, following a sudden illness. Jeff VandenBoom was born Dec. 7, 1981, in Quincy. He was a son of David and Carrie Northcutt VandenBoom. Jeff graduated from Mount Pleasant Senior High School in 2000. He had worked at Wal-Mart and for the University of Iowa. Jeff was a Ducks Unlimited volunteer and a volunteer at the Coggon Fire Department and had been an Eagle Scout. He loved to fish, trap, and go coon hunting. Surviving is his father, David, and special friend, Angela Lee, of Cedar Rapids; Jeff's girlfriend, Kim Sullivan of Coggon; his grandparents, Joan and Bernard VandenBoom of Quincy; three aunts, Mary (Roger) Hartman of Springfield, Rita (Greg) Paulus of O'Fallon, Mo., and Leann (Wayne) Schuerman of Quincy; and several cousins. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Thursday in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy. The Rev. Donald Knuffman will conduct the services. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Goettsch Funeral Home, 306 E.
