Lois J. Taylor, 88, of Bickford Cottage, 4221 Maine, formerly of 2801 College, was called home to heaven at 10:54 a.m. on April 17, 2014. She was born March 14, 1926, in Quincy, a daughter of Everett E. Taylor and Grace Reed Taylor. Miss Taylor was a 1945 graduate of Quincy High School. She worked for Shibley's and Lunt grocers in Quincy and also Illinois Bell before beginning work at Moorman Manufacturing Company. She worked at Moorman's in the Order Department and Office Stockroom Department. She retired in 1985. She was a member of the Moorman 25-Year Club. Lois loved to eat out with friends. She enjoyed visiting friends and neighbors. Her favorite past times were reading the Quincy Herald-Whig and collecting lighthouses. Lois wanted to thank her special caregivers, Jill Cobb, Brooke Cobb, Rita Schmitt and Elena Lock for all the compassion and loving care they gave her over the years. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Adams County Republican Club, Christian Ladies Club, and University of Illinois Home Extension. Survivors include three cousins, Kathy (Dale) Ellerbrock and Orda Taylor, both of Quincy and John Gerlach of Irving, Texas; and numerous second and third cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen; and a cousin, Elmer Taylor. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Mr. Jerry Westberg and Rev. Tim Dougherty conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. VISITATION: 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. MEMORIALS: Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch or Lighthouse Baptist Church.
