Margaret "Peggy" DeSutter of 4405 Northeast 91st Terrace, Kansas City, Mo., died at 3:29 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 11, 2014) in her home. Peggy was born March 7, 1948, in Galesburg, the daughter of Sylviere M. and Guida G. Peabody DeSutter. Peggy was a 1966 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Northern Illinois University and a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Peggy was a kindergarten teacher for the Dunlap (Ill.) School District. She also worked as an administrator for John Wood Community College in Quincy. She had been a guidance counselor at Wentzville (Mo.) High School and University City (Mo.) High School. Peggy was also the CEO of DeSutter Enterprises in St. Louis. In her spare time, Peggy enjoyed cycling, hiking, fitness, traveling, interior decorating, art, and political activism. Survivors include two sons, Todd A. (Carolyn A.) Petersen of Champaign, and Troy T. (Katie) Petersen of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Nancy (David) Jordan of Monticello, Ill., Marie (William) Ashmore of Quincy and Phyllis (Bob) Sturdivant of Auburndale, Fla., and four grandchildren. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents. SERVICES: Noon Saturday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
