Michael H. Bourne, 79, of Quincy, died at 1:58 a.m. Tuesday (July 29, 2014) in his home. Born Dec. 6, 1934, in Quincy, Mike was a son of Roscoe W. and Evelyn Hudson Bourne. He married Donna L. Clark on Dec. 31, 1966, in Quincy. She survives. Mr. Bourne served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mike was a graduate of Quincy High School and attended Quincy College. He began his career at Gates Radio, which later became Harris Corporation, and was employed there for more than 28 years, retiring as plant manager. Mike was a member of Faith Christian Church and a former member of the Elks Lodge No. 100. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Survivors include his wife, Donna; two daughters, Beth Anne Bourne-Reed of Quincy and Deborah C. Bourne of Quincy; a son, Michael C. Bourne of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Jake R. Reed, Katie Leebold (Jesse), Seth Reed, Devon Jansen-Bourne, Melissa R. Bourne, Nickki G. Bourne and Logan M. Greenwood-Bourne; and two great-grandchildren, Cash W. Reed and Jocelyn N. Leebold. Mr. Bourne was preceded in death by his parents. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Chris Lefever. Burial with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Sunset Cemetery in Quincy. VISITATION: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, and Friday morning until the time of services in the funeral home. MEMORIALS: Blessing Cancer Center or the Blessing Heart and Vascular Center.
