Oneta F. Burner Obituary
Oneta F. Burner, 90, of 3831 Holiday Drive, died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday (July 24, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.

Oneta was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Quincy, a daughter of Grover C. and Eva H. Hammer Huner. She married Donald G. Burner on June 30, 1958, in Quincy, and he survives.

Oneta was a long-time waitress at the Plaza in Quincy and then was one of the first meter maids in Quincy. She was employed by Motorola as a cafeteria supervisor prior to the plant closing. Finally, she retired in 1992 from her employment at Chaddock.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary 5129.

She was a collector of Precious Moments and a member of the Precious Moments Club. Oneta enjoyed traveling and cooking, and she was also a collector of cookbooks.

Throughout all of her pain and suffering, Oneta still gave praise to the Lord every day.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Karen Cobb Schaefer and her husband, Roger, of Quincy; a son, Carl L. Gray II and his wife, Joy, of Quincy; a grandson, Darian G. Cobb and his wife, Shelly; a granddaughter, Mallorie Weid-Summers and her husband, Jake; two stepchildren, Susie Elder and her husband, Bill, and Diane Donaldson and her husband, Mark; brothers, Jerry Huner and his wife, Marilyn, Jack Huner and his wife, JoAnn, and Edward Huner and his wife, Charlotte; sisters, Irma Kansteiner, Melba Agard, Patricia Fleer, Phyllis Toliver, Lou McConnell and Kay Seals and her husband, Stan; sisters-in-law, Angela Huner and Ellen Huner; and a lifetime friend, Barbara Weinand Stewart. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wayne Huner and Cleve Huner; and a sister, Eula Neikamp.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

VISITATION: 4-7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Christ Lutheran Church.
