MONTICELLO, Ill. -- Paul Blickhan, 82, of Monticello, died Friday (March 1, 2013) in his residence. Paul was born June 1, 1930, in Quincy, a son of Anselm and Clara Bockhold Blickhan. Paul and Rita (Mast) Blickhan celebrated more than 61 years of marriage and were married on Nov. 17, 1951 at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Paul served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. After the war, Paul farmed in Champaign County for more than 40 years. He was a Sadorus Township Trustee for eight years, Ivesdale Fire District Trustee, and a 4-H leader. He was an Ivesdale Knights of Columbus Council 1047 member, Grand Knight in 1974 and became a lifetime 4th Degree member. Surviving are his wife, Rita, of Monticello; two sons, Gregory (Jane) Blickhan of Green Bay, Wis., and Bill (Sheri) Blickhan of Monticello; grandchildren, Jason (Sheila) Blickhan of Pryor Lake, Minn., Christopher (Kristen) Blickhan of West Chicago, Joshua Blickhan of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Grace Blickhan of Monticello; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Schuering and Bernice Dittmer and a brother, John Blickhan, all of the Quincy area. Paul was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Philomena Catholic Church in Monticello with the Rev. Bruce D. Lopez officiating. Burial will be in Monticello Township Cemetery. VISITATION: Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service in the church. MEMORIALS: Catholic Charities or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
